Has anyone tried calling a glass company, like Corning, to
see if they manufacture these glass tubes? I'd think that
such an item would be used in scientific fields, or perhaps
as "blanks" for making other glass utensils. Might be
too expensive to be worth while, but if "mirrorizing" them
is this easy, it might be worth investigating. I used to
work as the IT guy for a hardware and industrial supply
wholesaler, and it's amazing what a dilligent purchasing
agent can turn up.
I had some M100C glass tubes made up in the UK a few years ago by a guy who produced laboratory equipment in a small business unit. Basically he bought glass tube of the correct diameter, cut them to length and then "mirrorred" it internally. I subsequently asked him to make me some more but he wasn't too keen - he had run out of "mirrorring" chemicals which he needed to buy in bulk and my small order didn't justify that. But it can be done! Or at least it could!
