Unix was designed by Dennis Ritchie and Ken Thompson
at Bell Labs!  It was a simplified version of Multics
(ergo the tongue-in-cheek name) which was a multi-
user timesharing OS from the 1960s, when such OS'es
were quite cutting edge.
