I thought you had Ron's book.RTM.There's a picture of it on page 16.The
original cartridge in Cs was black. The only needle available was mono. When they
came out with the Seeburg G (I think) they Changed to a different type of
cartridge. The needle slides out.The color is red with a big sticker on the side
saying "Seeburg Hi-Fi Magnetic" and a "Pc" in a circle (the Pickering
trademark)That's the one I see in your picture. The original needles were mono. The
tips were 1 mil in size and had no up-down compliance for stereo records.Mono
records had 1 mil grooves and only needed the needle to move side to
side.Stereo records the groove is smaller(.7mil) and the needle needs to be able to
move up and down as well as side to side. Therefore mono originals will eat
stereo records. Most oldies reissues use .7 mil grooves regardless of whether the
song is mono or not.A lot of times they have the stereo version on them
also. They sell stereo compatible needles for the redhead cartridge.Victory Glass
carries them and I'm sure Ron has them too.The difference is the needle just
sticks straight out on the originals and the stereo compatible ones have a
little shaft that kinda go sideways and then the needle juts out.
