Eric,
As Wes and Ron have said, it's very likely to be the solenoid end of stroke
contacts that are not making contact when they should be. (They should be
normally closed, i.e. closed when the solenoid is relaxed). The resistor is
probably OK. For reference the values are as follows:
Guardian Solenoid - 175 Ohm 5W
RBM Solenoid - 50 Ohm 10W
Personally I have never seen an RBM solenoid so I suspect most of them were
Guardian??
