Jackie I coulnt agree more. Many years ago I also met
a good friend from New York purely by chance who just
happened to be in the commercial business of fixing
and servicing jukeboxes. I was advertising in a
magazine for recordings of Alan Freeds radio shows
from the late 50s. Alan Freed was a disk Jockey who
was alleged to have coined the Phrase Rock n Roll. He
was playing rock n roll and Race music (as it was
called then) when most stations were playing Sinatra,
Como, Boone, Crosby and the likes. There was even a
film made about him in the 70s I think called American
Hot Wax (great music but not exactly historically
acurate) along with an LP on the Capitol label, which
I used to have, loaned it to someone and never got it
back. Anyway, I digress...One day while at work I was
informed there was a call from New York which
surprised me as I did not know anybody in New York. It
was my now friend calling who had picked up my ad and
subsequently sent me some tapes and we have been
friends ever since and keep in regular contact. My
daughter and I even visited him last year. When he
visited me he was kind enough to spend some time
inside my jukeboxes and imparted some valuable
information and service tips, which I will always be
truly greatful for.
