Hi Rick, I forgot to say that when turning the motor
by hand to replace the record back in the rack make
sure you dont turn it too far as this will put things
out of sinc. Also if you gently take some of the
weight off the bow shaped lift arm when turning the
motor it should make it slightly easier for you.
Another thing i would do as a matter of course, would
be to check and clean all the pins and sockets that go
into the various junction boxes. There is also a set
of contacts inside the small junction box which sits
on top of the mech, The one with the button for
operating the record rack. You might want to check and
clean them too.

let me know how you get on

Gary

Incidentaly in my opinion the AMI C is a slightly
underrated machine and have always fancied one. I have
heard it described as a poor mans 1100. You rarely see
them for sale in the UK. Its normally As and Bs. For
me the beauty of these machines is that in relative
terms they are reasonably simple to maintain (fingers
crossed) compared to their counterparts. Having
rebuilt the amp, fitted a new Big Cat 15 inch speaker,
diamond tipped the needle, I think the sound on my AMI
B is great. Not bad for a machine that cost £200
dollars and was going in a Dumpster. Mind you, lets
just say there has been more than a few hours gone
into the restoration.
