    Chad, because the lift arms are spring loaded in the up position, it will do no damage if they are pulled down when in play position. If you do this the record will stay on the turntable and you can tell if some obstruction is causing the hesitation. If there is no hesitation, you may assume the record is involved in the problem. If this is the case, reject the record and quickly turn off the power when the spindle has released the record. Now you may pull the arm down with the record and determine what is the problem. Wes
