To my mind, the thing that makes or breaks the Q (appearance-wise) is the
striped metal finish side panels above the Formica. If they are rusty,
forget it. If they look nice, they are really attractive! I don't know of
any repro replacements, either. Second year for stereo (in Seeburgs), a
set of genuine output tubes (6973) is very expensive. It also could have
the optional autospeed unit (sits on the bottom of the cabinet) for playing
33 1/3 rpm mini-lp's. I also like the grille treatment, I think that grid
of polished metal squares is supposed to look like they are "floating" in
front of the grille. Hopefully the amp has been re-capped recently, I'm
halfway through doing the one in my AY (the year after the Q) right now.
Can't wait to hear it again, without the howl! Oh, and you can see a Q
in the B-52's video of "Love Shack"!
