  There is a "safety switch" on the 3400 Wurly. It's probably mis-adjusted, as it is designed to stop the basket from moving unless the gripper arm/record is fully down and out of the way. RTM for the adjustment proceedure. Ron Rich

that happened to my Statesman. I heard this terrible noise and opened the 
lid, the transfer arm was off center and the record was jammed up against 
the outside of the magazine. I quickly turned off the power and the record 
snapped in half. I guess that was another example of Wurlitzer's troubled 
mech.! :-)
