Magnetics have a lower signal level than ceramic Francois.
Have you tried swapping over the signal/ ground clips on ONE channel, not
sure but I think one channel has to be out of phase with the other or you
get signal cancelling. Bit like speaker phasing !!!!

Hello everyone,
I need your help here. I have a Tempo 1 mono version and I had the amp
rebuilt recently and the speakers reconed. I installed new EL-34 and
following Bill Bickers recommendation, I installed a Pickering NP/AC
magnetic cartridge. The sound is great but very low, way too low for a
jukebox. I brought the amp back to the guy who rebuilt it, he checked all
the voltages and everything was fine. We tried different ceramic
cartridges, Astatic 51, Pfansthiel P-132 and they are all louder but the
sound is not as good (in my impression).
Is there something wrong with my Pickering NP/AC cartrdige ? I soldered
the small clips while they were on the cartridge leads, do you think I
might have damaged the cartridge ? It works, but is way too low.
Should I order a new NP/AC just to test a different one ? Or should I just
install a ceramic ?
Your help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Bye :-)
Francois
