I've read about these before; unless it's a scam knock off, they're
for real. (It's a turntable that plays records with lasers instead of
a stylus, for those who haven't took the time to go to ebay).

I'd be real interested in learning how they technically accomplish
this. CDs were made to reflect (or not) laser light, not so with
records. You would have to measure the movement of the groove wall,
not just whether it reflects or not.

They claim to remove rumble, but I'd think rumble, being an artifact
of motor and turntable bearing vibrations moving the record in
relationship to the pickup point, would be present whether you're
using a needle or laser to measure the movement of the grooves.

Heck, just tracking a record with a slight warp (are there any
without?) would be an interesting problem to solve.

But I can't justify spending the price for vinyl that's pristine
enough to warrant such a turntable, nevermind paying the price for the
turntable itself!
