Is that the sign with the lake image that has ripples on the water,
a campfire burning, etc.? I remember being really impressed with
that when I first saw one. The first animated sign like that I
ever saw was an Olympia one from, probably, the late 50s. It had
the river and Tumwater Falls in the logo animated. I remember as
a little kid, maybe 3 or 4, staring at that sign wondering how
the water moved. Nowadays the effect seems so obvious. The
woman who owned the store was like my third grandmother. When
she retired (at over 80) the Olympia driver showed up and said
"This belongs to the brewery - I have to return it." She told
me "That son of a b*tch is probably going to put it in his
rec room!" Otherwise, she said, she would have given it to me.
