1. We really need more information as to exactly what is going on. Do you
get two plays even though you only have one credit? When you say randomly,
do you mean it plays extra selections on occasion, or it plays random
selections (as in one you did not choose)?
Keep in mind that this machine has mechanical selectors. As soon as you
insert your coin, the machine will start. You must choose your selection
before inserting the coin, or you will most likely get the wrong selection.
Also, if you put in a quarter, you will get 5 plays even if you do not press
5 keys down. The selector shaft rotates 23/24's of a revolution every cycle
(not quite one revolution), so if no buttons are pressed, the machine will
play the selection just before the last one played. So it appears to be a
random selection, when actually the machine is functioning as designed.
Also, if the machine is not lubricated properly, it will play wrong
selections.
2. This sounds like the main clutch is not being disengaged, so the mech
continues to cycle as if the record has been played through. Check to see
that the reject button on the side is not stuck The arm on the trip shaft
must be riding on top of the main cam shaft to disengage the clutch. Check
to see if the shaft is free to rotate. Check to see that the tonearm is back
all the way and the trip assembly underneath has re-set.
