[Jukebox-list] "Clips"-was-Cartridge Installation on Rockola 1438 ?

Got the clips today. Went to a local electronics store that had small bags of the gold colored pin clips. The shielded single wire cable I have for rewiring the cartridge has rubber around the shielding, so the shielding is hard to get to in order to use it as GROUND. Is it OK to use a separate wire from cartridge ground terminal to ground on the AMP?? I'll probably just coil the ground wire around the shielded cable all the way down into the phono plug.
Thanks,
Britt
