You may not want a separate ground wire. I would try it first without.
Did the previous cartridge have a separate ground wire?
Also, is your replacement wire specifically designed for tonearm use?
Most shielded cable not designed for it is too stiff and will cause
problems with skipping or trip switch action. I've used the wire from
Walkman/IPod style headphones in a pinch, it's thin and flexible.
