I can see nothing wrong with being educated or having a degree. I always
considered the value in it was not the piece of paper per se, but that it
usually represented a proven capability to learn. That is what employers
generally use it for as well as a demonstration of basic knowledge
requirements, aside from career paths where professional accreditation is a
pre-requisite.

Most certainly, not having that piece of paper does not mean one does not
have that capability to learn..Nor is an education a replacement for common
sense, but they are not necessarily mutually exclusive events. Again, that
is a function of the individual. Whether or not that learning experience
continues past the educational field when the pressure (may be) is off, is
up to that particular individual as well.

In my case - I am beginning to think the age effect is coming into play
these days. Maybe that is where the term 'aged in the wood comes from' ...
LOL....

In the circles that I used to float around in called these persons with a formal degree 'educated idiots'. Most were forced into this schooling by well meaning but misdirected parents.that aspired for their offspring to find a better station in life than their selves. They never could appreciate the value of logic and common sense. These are the people that would place a high wattage resistor directly against the circuit board with no air gap for convection.
