Jim, most caps working in conjunction with switches and coils are for spark
supression. Wes

Subject: [Jukebox-list] Seeburg WSR5 question

I've been working on a Seeburg R that a previous owner had installed a WSR5
selection receiver and a keyboard from a G. The machine would take credit,
latch solenoid would activate, but the push buttons would stick down and not
release. I found that one wire to the timing relay coil was broken, and now
my selectors are working properly. While troubleshooting, I noticed a
capacitor (C10) in the diagram across pins 2 and 7 in the credit unit that
is missing in mine. Can anybody tell me the function of this cap? Is it
absolutely necessary? I haven't seen any problem without it so far, but my
amp is out for rebuild and I was wondering if this cap helps suppress noise
if a selection is made while playing.

Jim
