[Jukebox-list] A better understanding

Ron, I believe that "continuous improvement teams" are a necessary part of
any manufacturing company. The way I see it, people are resistant to change
(that's the way we've always done it). Over time, they get comfortable and
relax, allowing the competition to get an edge. Then as you say, money gets
tight and of course cost becomes the main focus. You may think those
responsible were "cheap" in trying to eliminate a part costing less than a
penny, but there are plenty of hidden costs associated with it, such as the
labor and time to install it, warehouse it, inventory it, receive it,
inspect it, and deal with the supplier. Plus if you use thousands every day
or week, it does add up.
Wes, in today's workforce, we have a thing called random drug testing. Also,
are you implying that the 3400 was a "classical creation"? I apologize to
all you 3400 owners, but that model is very near the bottom of my list,
right near the Aireon.
Jim
