The Sony CDK-006 player was also heavily used in early automated systems for
radio stations, either selected by a DJ, or played under computer control.
Usually four or five units in a group, and I believe some systems could
control multiple groups. I have in the recent past purchased players in
excellent shape that were retired from radio station service.
They were also used in some kind of special vending machine that would let
you select several tracks and burn a cassette tape via high speed dubbing.
These units were heavily modified for this use.
