I don't know if anyone's still following the original thread, but I just
got caught up and thought I'd throw this in there. In the back of my
A's repro manual there is an advertisement for the 45rpm conversion (no
company name, sorry) for $69.50. Items included are - new direct gear
drive, new positive record guide and a new all steel transfer arm head.
Top of ad stated "Completely New....Engineered for Trouble Free
Operation" If this is the kit installed in my A I'd like to hunt down
the guy who decided to say "Trouble Free" and see if he has since
changed his definition of the term.
Also, as mentioned earlier, the artist's rendition of the replacement
mech on page 8 is absolutely not an A mech that has been modified by any
means. It's completely different. Seeburg even went through the
trouble of saying they would include a new inner background trim with
the mech, an item that would be unnecessary if it was just a conversion
kit. I am curious to know however, if anyone ever finds out what the
$240 replacement was that Justin S referred to a few days ago. As this
is the only box I own right now I'm always collecting any info I can on
it.
FYI, as I know the A is hard to find sometime, especially in the US, if
anyone ever has any questions or need something looked at on the box,
please feel free to ask me, mine's sitting right here collecting dust
waiting for a facelift!

I think that on some Williams games, you needed to flip the jumper and
change the backglass. I have seen some "add-a-balls" on which the
"replay window" was covered by the backglass graphics, but the "replay
reel" was inside the machine--Ron Rich

least Gottlieb made many machines that were made in either a replay
version or an add-a ball version. Most often with different names for
the games, but otherwise identical as far as playfield and graphics.
