Interesting comment.  The "Zoom Spout Oiler" was a topic of
serious discussion on the Ampex mailing list a couple years
ago, and it came out that the "generic" Zoom Spout oil sold
by Ace HArdware and others is actually high speed turbine
oil of the type Ampex recommended for the bearings of
its tape transports.  It is very pale yellow in color
(think Busweiser Light, if you can bear to think of it).
Is this the one you're thinking of?  I can get the info
off the bottle to confirm if necessary.  It came highly
recommended in Ampex Land.
