It could have had one of those devices installed that
activates the latch solenoid when one button is pressed,
then releases it like normal when the other one is.
Alteratively, you could just connect a surface mount
doorbell button to the single-play solenoid in the
credit unit (you can even just push two thin wires
down along with the plug pins into the top so there's
no soldering or wire cutting) and tape the button
onto the back of the machine.  But putting coins in
is more fun.
