Hi Brad:
If you remove the five screws on the bottom (between and next to
the four sockets) you can separate the coil bank from the pot metal lever
assembly. I did this on my A and C, and dipped the pot metal lever assembly
in carburetor dip. Rinse with water and then use lacquer thinner (or
solvent) and a brush to finish up (also helps to reduce the smell of the
carb cleaner slightly) The parts may smell bad for a couple days, but come
out looking like new.
Of course, once it's apart, you could also use your favorite
degreaser.
