    I cannot appreciate the difference in the 12AX7 and the 7199. I have noticed that a lot of high end consumer amplifiers use the 12AX7 even though a 7199 is available. I think it was some designer that started the 7199 system, and then the tube manufacturer's sales rep. convinced the juke amplifier designers to try this new tube. I think that Rowe was not taken in by sales pitch. Maybe the other designers were 'compensated' under the table. Things like this did happen and still do. You would think that this practice would be confined to the military contractors and public servants only. Wes
