Hi,
There are a couple of things you can do.
Firstly, is it out by the same amount on all of the gaps ?
Also, is it out by the same distance on both A and B sides ?
Are any of the dividers bent, making some smaller and some larger ?
If you answer Yes, Yes and No, then all you need to do is make the
adjustment below:-
Take the front off the jukebox, so you can see the mech front on.
Select A1 and stop the mech when A1 is at the top and about to be picked up
(which will be slightly off the top in your case).
Look into the mechanism from the front.
Remove the popularity meter by turning the centre and pulling it off.
You may need to remove the search unit (3 bolts - right hand side of the
mech).
Can you now see a soleniod, a wierd looking 'sprag' wheel/gear, and a gear
meshed with this that either has white or blue nylon gears ?
This has 2 screws. Carefully loosen these screws a touch. Holed the gear,
and with your other hand, centre the carousel so that A1 is spot on the top.
Tighten the screws. (You may need to rotate the carousel to get your
screwdriver in, or use another slot instead of A1).
Put the search unit and pop meter back
Now make some selections and see if it is picking the records up correctly.
Thats the quick and dirty way and should solve your problem.
If there are other issues, such as out of adjustment stop switch, or even
wear on the gears can cause there to be too much play in the carousel, then
you may need to buy a manual to solve it.
Give that a go, and see how you get on. The record should come out perfectly
smoothly if all is ok (a slight scuffing is inevitable though).
Try all the slots to make sure you dont have a large or small gap causing
problems, or another issue - the carousel may be ok, but the rear gripper
mount bracket (and roller assembly for the carousel band) may be not
vertical, causing the gripper arm to seat itself sloping. This is 2 allen
key screws on the back of the mech if necessary.
Let me know any problems, and I'll continue to help
Ps - you may need to adjust the 'Record Playing' annunciator after making
these changes, or the letters / numbers may not be lined up.
Good luck,
Nigel, UK

Adjusting the record magazine on an AMI MM5.
Can someone help? I need to adjust the magazine a little on an MM5 (about
1970). It's stops just a bit too late. The records still go in and out
during transfer, but are taking quite a scuffing on the B sides.
