Ken it is apparent that you have never participated in a concurs show.
Even the wires ,belt and other accessories must be date coded prior to the
vehicle manufacture's date This is why we do not go 'original' .Ii is not
prarical. Wes

Going original is restoration. Building a hot rod is
not restoration, it's customizing. Of course if there
is a original defect or a safety issue, like adding
hydraulic brakes to a '37 Ford or replacing a selenium
rectifier with a silicon diode/bridge in a jukebox or
a radio, that is considered ok in a restoration. Even
judges won't take points off for adding hydraulic
brakes at a big-time car show.
To restore is to put it back the way it was.
