I think we should not diss Seeburg if they used "creative financing", but
rather hail them for always being the pioneers and inventors in the
business. In a way they did bet their farm 'cause if 45 hadn't succeeded
right away, they'd've been on a whitwater raft without a paddle.
When they adopted new technology, they often went "all in" (like with the
tormat). (A good thing they didn't go all in with 33 rpm a decade later :o)
IIRC that contraption with the two mechs tied together were only used for
the January 1948 show in Chicago to emphasize their point (and scare the
heck out of the Tonawanda crew). Gotta check if I have a Billboard from that
month.
