Hi everyone,

So, on the post below, I was able to fix the selection matter with a $25
free play plug from John's Jukes. That was well worth it.... I guess it
settles that the BO/AC was the problem, but there's no sense to fix
it when a bypass will do.

I am still curious why the carousel stopped returning to it's home
position, and as well why it only spins when the service switch is
in the on (service) mode when the reverse used to be true.

Thanks,

Julie

I have a Wurlitzer 1050, which has the same mechanism as the other
early 70's Wurlitzers. I have a couple of problems that have
developed, and before asking around about repairs, I'd love to have
the input of the wise folks on this list.

The first "symptom" is that the carousel no longer returns to A1 when
it is out of selections. This was the first thing I noticed.

The second "symptom" was that it blew a fuse. On a hunch, I replaced
the fuse for the one marked "RY 6 Sel Hold"

Now, I cannot recall whether the third symptom came before or after
the second, but when I put it in free play mode, it only gives me 2-3
selections before faulting.

I think I've traced the problem to the switch next to the latch
solenoid, which I cleaned and lubricated. The fuse has not blown out
again, but the problem with free play is still there. The switch gets
pushed to the left when the selection is made, but does not return
back to the right side on the second or third selection.

I ordered a new latch solenoid, but given that my knowledge of
electronics is nearly zip, I don't really want to start replacing
things without an actual theory of what is going on. Any opinions are
much appreciated. If nothing else, please tell me the BO/AC isn't to
blame, since my impression is that it is a common problem with these
machines that is not easily fixed.

Thanks so much,

Julie
