Over the years I have heard 240v has more kick than 115v but the higher frequency tends to upset your insides more when you get zapped, either way your still get hurt. the reason for earthing is when a part shorts out to it casing or frame it blows a fuse if there is no earth it can still work but is waiting for you to be its grounding. because we have a high resistance the fuse does not always save us.
