Bently;
I felt somewhat like you did when i first started to read the posts to the forum.
As far as out of luck if noit mechanically inclined, I'm sure Jackie would beg to differ with you.

If you have a basic abiltiy to read and comprehend what you are reading, have basic tool use skilss, or can learn, are willing to buy the manual (at an inflated price, which now to me is well worth it ), and are willing to take advice, then you should be able to repair most anything that would go wrong. People here will basically walk you through almost any repair. IN DETAIL.

If the repairman is asking you for $2500.00 to go through your box, maybe it's because he doesn't want to spend the rest of his/her life making repaet calls to a box thgat had many more issues than what the service guy was told in the first place, from an irate customer that insists; "it worked fine Until you messed with it"!!!. If it 's completely gone through than the service rep can be sure all is well.

How many people have gone to garage for a simple; "The light is on, on my dash", and then all of a sudden everything seem to go wrong after the mechanic replaces a fuse. Maybe the heap was ready to fall apart because the person ignored the red light for 6 months.

You tell the jukebox repair man that; It's just a fuse" well maybe that 10 cent fuse blew, because that $150.00 motor was never oiled. If the reapirman replaces the fuse, and then the motor burns up, you call him up an say: "What did you do to my box, the motor burned up".

I will, agree, on one point, I think sometimes people ask a litlle too much for spare parts, but remember that most are not being made anymore. I can see for the trim and cosmetic items, but I find it unnerving for some to charge $50.00 for parts that are being made today, and with a little search could be purchased for $6.00 on line. Motors etc. are the exception. They are very expensive new especially Bodine.
As far as Jukeboxes becoming a thing of the past, you will not find a single vintage hobby that is not in the exact same boat. Each day available vintage items are lost forever to damage in shipping, mishandling, fires, you name it. Millions of model T's were made, when was the last time you saw one.
