Yep, that's what it is. I restored one of them beasts. I think I bought it
from Bill Butterfield long ago (that's when his wife wanted a new kitchen -
can you hear me Bill! :O))
This is a selectable jukebox, you turn the knob to your song and insert the
coin, whereupon the motor and amplifier power up. Vacuum operates the
machinery. Ferris wheel rotates to the selected record, tonearm moves in and
there is Music. Turntable is driven by a spring that is wound up by the
motor. Amplifier by Webster. Seeburg kept the selector mech basically the
same for the Selectophone and the first series Symphonolas.
The pneumatics get leaky over the years, and has to be restored. New hoses
and new leather on the bellows. Still my machine was a little hesitant in
selecting, and this problem was compounded by motor running slower at 50 Hz.
It worked like a charm if I used the vacuum cleaner. I made a new larger
drive pulley and then it was ok.
If you can do the cabinet or find someone who can, go for it Bob!
:o) Jens
