Bob, I stand by my original assertion. In 20 yrs of working with jukes, I've
never seen a factory speckled paint job on AMis before the F. Never seen
mention of it in the sales literature prior to the F. With the F on up yes
there were a myriad of colors. As Wes and Ron wisely pointed out many Ds and
Es were painted early on it their life, but not by AMi. Both the D and the E
have good quality mahogany veneer on their cabinets. The Ds were always
lacquered and the Es got the decal treatment. I've owned two dozen plus Ami
Es over the years and they all are the same if you look for traces of the
decal; check the painted ones you are talking about under the trim at the
sides of the keyboard. my bet is you will find the woodgrain decal. Few
operators bothered to remove the trim for painting. Justin

I beg to differ...AMI offered the most choices of anybody for colors and
finishes. I have an E in storage that is speckle-green, as well as one
with
a greenish "woodgrain" appearance. I think there is one other, but I
don't
remember what it is. The D's were available in a bewildering array of
colors too.
