Wow, this sounds like a pretty difficult process.  Applying
veneer would have been easier!  On a G-120 I recently fixed 
up, there was an area on the top of the cabinet where the
upper layers of red speckle paint had peeled off, and it
was painted solid red underneath.  This must be the "primer"
referred to in the paint list.
