[Jukebox-list] juke cabinet painting help

Hi all,
I'm trying to paint a juke cabinet with an air gun (compressor) and the paint comes out in a crystalin form (looks grainy and feels like sand paper). I adjusted the air pressure according to the gun specs and played with the mixture and pattern. Paint seems thin enough. I don't have this problem with my old wagner electric (airless) gun (but its messy and noisy and hard to clean) or a spray paint can (except hard to get even spray with the can). What am I doing wrong?  What do you all use when painting wood cabinets? I thought about a roller or brush. Any help here would be great. Thank you, Rick.
