Hi Rick
Welcome to the stress of painting.
First thing, there are many variables that can cause your problem.
A few things that can have different results--
1. what kind of paint are you using--enamel, laquer, 2-part urethane, base
coat-clear coat.
2.What type of gun-siphon feed, gravity feed, HVLP
3. Painting conditions--hot, cold, dry, humid, dust free, on a dirt road.
Here is a couple of tips to get you started--
Mix the paint according to the manufacturer and then add a little more
thinner.
Set your gun pressure with the trigger pulled all the way.
To get the smoothest coat, hold the gun about 8 inches away and spray heavy
enough till it almost runs.(a fine touch) Always keep the gun the same
distance. Practice on some scrap.
Overlap passes 50 per cent.
Be sure to wear breathing protection. You came with only one pair of lungs.
Use a respirator not a dust mask.
Good luck,
Ed
