Rick, the volatility of the mixture will determine thinness of the
paint. Slow drying paint like enamel will be less prone to pimple. It will
still have time to flow after hitting the surface. Lacquer is the worst in
this respect. It will dry even before hitting the surface and needs to be
sprayed thin and at low pressure. I like enamel or polyurethane best but you
have to be careful of runs. Wes

Subject: [Jukebox-list] juke cabinet painting help
Hi all,
I'm trying to paint a juke cabinet with an air gun (compressor) and the
paint comes out in a crystalin form (looks grainy and feels like sand
paper). I adjusted the air pressure according to the gun specs and played
with the mixture and pattern. Paint seems thin enough. I don't have this
problem with my old wagner electric (airless) gun (but its messy and noisy
and hard to clean) or a spray paint can (except hard to get even spray with
the can). What am I doing wrong? What do you all use when painting wood
cabinets? I thought about a roller or brush. Any help here would be great.
Thank you, Rick.
