Ron, I have a triac tester I made for my own use. It consists of three sockets 1- 3 cir., 1- 4 cir, and 1- 5 cir. to plug the triac board into the board has three pushbuttons connected to the gates through 100 ohm 10 watt resistors to fire the triacs and three #313 lamps in the anode circuits to monitor the condition of the triacs. It requires a small 24 VAC transformer to operate. Wes

Gerald,
As far as I know, there exists no test for a triac, other than to replace it with a new one. Hopefully someone on the list has a "foolproof" test and will kindly share it with us. They are no harder to replace than a transistor. You also must be concerned with resistor value on the triac board. If I recall correctly, there are some large resistors that tend to change value, or burn out--it's been awhile since I repaired any--
If you have no experience in component replacement, I suggest you consult a "pro", because if I remember right, those boards are not too heat friendly.
