Jim, could it be that he suspected one selection coil being partially shorted and maybe he thought a shorter pulse would not blow a MDL type fuse? Wes

Subject: [Jukebox-list] Rockola 1448 credit unit

You may not know this, but Atlanta is the R1448 capital of the world. In the past month, I bought two, and then received three in my basement for repairs. Three of them came from the same operator, and a now deceased repair person left his card in them. As I started to repair one of the machines, I went to replace the 300/150 mfd capacitor in the credit unit, and realized the leads had been reversed. I thought that maybe the previous repair person had made a mistake, but then noticed the other two machines were re-wired the same way, plus the cap looks original, not new. My question is this - is this an error by an old man who was losing it, or is this an old time operator trick to get a better selection pulse? My theory is not too good, but it seems discharging the 150 mfd cap through the reset coil rather than the 300 mfd cap would result in a weaker pulse. Or is the idea a slower, therefore slightly longer pulse? Thanks,

Jim
