    Karl, the drive pawl may be removed without any dis-assembly. It requires an offset screwdriver and moving the cam to position where the hole in the cam is directly above the screw. When I worked for the Wurlitzer distributor, we had to retro-fit all the early 1700 models that had only one flat spring.  Before doing this, check the brake band. When the motor reverses, this band is supposed to move the pawl into one of the teeth. Wes
