[Jukebox-list] Molex-ish connectors

The electronics person who used to be next door where I worked explained
that repair people solder the pins.
1.no need to have the right crimp tool.
2. no need to have the right size pin to suite the wire gauge.
3. no time to get the right pin or crimp them correctly.
The electricians two units down crimp there connectors when they make
control cabinets, electronics and large current switches.
1. too much heat to solder large terminals
2. flux contamination at solder joint.
3. possible damage to plating surface.
4. insulation damage.
5. fare better vibration resistance to breakage.
There words not mine.
I also asked these questions years ago when I was repairing my electronic
pinballs.
I still crimp the terminals but I do have the right tools and many different
size pins, housings and all the rest to do it as the manufacturer had done
originally.
That's my way, just as I do not restore my machines to the same level as
others.
In the end does it really matter.
