You might want to check the adjustment on the reversing switch, too.  It's 2 
simple 1/4 inch screws on either end of the track.
Your reversing switch may not be fully clicking over before the carriage 
reaches the bumper.
This is an adjustment you wouldn't think would ever go bad, but it's 
suprising how many times I've had to make it.
