Ron, solder pots work great on Amphenol rounds, but I cannot conceive
using one on any crimp type. Solder pots are expensive also. Wes

Wes,
I am not sure that it cost less, at that time--they needed to purchase a
flock of the crimpers, and crimp one wire at a time. Soldering a whole set
of wires using a solder pot had to be faster--Perhaps, the parts cost less??

Ron, c'mon you know that on a production line its more economical to
crimp than solder. And when it comes to cost (the bottom line) at any
production facility (except when the government is involved) economy rules
supreme over consideration of the lowly mechanic. Witness the complexity of
all new gadgets. Most are throw away. I believe you were indoctrinated by
the manufacturers and not allowed to think for yourself. I know I was until
I liberated myself over thirty years ago and started marching to my own
drummer. BTW, I also have one of those 'expensive' crimpers.Wes
