Doug,
  Seeburg sold a three wire cable that had two 16 ga and one 20 ga wire in it. This was for use with long runs, and up to 6,  3W1's attached. 
  For home use, and short runs, with only one 3W1 on the line, 22 gague wire should work. 
  As for the "stuck-in" button--can't tell you what has caused it, cause I can't see it. I would advise you to purchase a service manual first, then oil it using the correct oil, and then adjust the buttons as shown Then you might need to trouble shoot it further.
