I couldn't agree with Ron more.
Crate it according to factory shipping suggestions if  you have that 
information.
If you don't have that specific info and the folks on this list can't supply 
it..... (they likely can)
.... but if not.....

 realize that vibration is the enemy. Especially if trucked over hundreds of 
miles of bumpy road.
Generally speaking, the mech should be secured to the box's frame and 
usually there are tie down bolts for this. After that look at anything that 
will move or jiggle due to road vibration and pad that thing and secure it 
against something that doesn't move.   Look for stuff that could rub 
repeatedly against fancy finishes and pad those things so they don't scratch 
the finishes.   While vacuum tubes are pretty tough, for a long road trip, I 
would remove and pack them well in a cardboard box that can be crammed into 
the box somewhere. This reduces the likelyhood of severe bumps causing 
damage to the tubes' inner workings. Secure the tone arm.

Lastly, vibration is the enemy....... protect stuff from rubbing against 
other stuff.
