Guys, thanks for th responses. The 1438 I have has a grill in excellent condition, but it does have selection problem, where, when turned on it constantly plays record after record (even number only) and won't stop. Hey, at least it plays.
My new acquisition 1448 is in rough shape and really needs a new grill. I doubt that the Mr Durfee/Butterfield have one, but I will check. That's why I was asking about the possibility of making one. Wes mentioned the aluminum stock that I will probably look into, the problem as Wes stated is the "embossing" (pinholes) in the grill around the speaker.
My comments concerning the Rockola manuals weren't meant to insult to Rockola faithful. I have three Rockola manuals for my 1428, 1438, and 1448. They all fall short of my Seeburg Trashcan manual which really goes into detail of the machine parts, troubleshooting guide, etc There's definitely a difference, though I prefer the Rockolas over the other makes.
Oh yes, sorry I forgot to include my name on this initial post. It was on an earlier post in August.... If any of you have further answers/recommendation for me....please post!
