While I don't recommend this at all for any bright chrome work, a wire 
or abrasive plastic wheel to remove the rust followed by a careful 
application of "chrome" spray paint looks very good on 220/222 expanded 
metal grilles.  The side triangles are being reproduced, if yours are bad.
