[Jukebox-list] '79 Rowe- LED Readout

Hi, everyone-
This isn't a huge deal but a tad annoying... there are a few "characters"
missing in the LCD numeral read-outs on my R-83, most noticeably in the "tens"
and "one's" (the middle of an "8" may be missing for example, making for a "U"
and an upside down inverted "U" underneath it). I purchased a replacement LED
unit from a guy who was parting out his '79 Rowe and tried out the new unit.
This one was better, but still missing a couple of characters. My question here
is: how easy is it to take a fully working single-digit read-out from one unit
and putting it into another? In other words, can I take the "hundreds"
readout from one unit and solder it into the "tens" of another unit? Or, how easy is
it to repair one of the character digit-units? I'm guessing a missing
"character" is not like a burned-out light bulb, correct? Could this be a question of
loose/dirty connections somewhere to check before proceeding? I have a
friend who is willing to help me out on the project- a top-notch pinball guy and
quite handy with a soldering gun- but he was wanting a little more direction of
where to go before we started blindly interchanging parts here.
Again, my thanks to all of you.
