Whatever happens in the jukebox stays in the jukebox.
I'm not ashamed to listen to some pretty dumb songs now and then.
In fact, a lot of the music I include on my every-five-years-or-so
Christmas CD compilations (sent to friends for Christmas, not
sold commercially) are songs with hopelessly lame lyrics but
which still feature catchy tunes, good charts well recorded,
or other endearing features. If you have achance, listen to
Les Baxter's "Santa Claus' Party." The lyrics are pathetic:
Come on everybody
To Santa Claus'es party.
You may be sure
Both rich and poor
Are welcome at Santa's door.
You don't need a ticket
To Santa Claus'es party.
A cheery grin
Will get you in
So what are you waiting for?
You get the idea. But the orchestra recording is great
with a rich standup bass booming up and down in the
background. I can't help but like this song in spite of
its sappiness.
I might but some of the Yuletide Treasures up on my
web site in December, so watch here for further details...
:-)
