This is good advice. I also would like to add check the fuses and get ready
to hit the "off" control switch. I once worked on a 1448 where the record
basket took off when the gripper was over the turntable. It actually scanned
far enough to reverse direction, thus changing from odd to even sides.
Because the mechaincal linkage changed sides, when the record ended, the
gripper went back into carousel backwards. Or at least tried to - it caused
one hell of a jam up. I don't bother testing the switches anymore - just go
ahead and buy new ones - even if the old ones test OK, they are 50 years old
in some cases and are bound to fail soon.
