Are you saying that if you remove and replace the tube the humming
stops until the next time you cycle power, or it stops until the
tube gets good and hot again? If it's the second, the tube is
probably getting gassy and the heat exacerbates that. If it's
the first I have no idea -- could be a capacitor going bad that
gets "shocked" back into good performance by the power jolt of
removing and replacing the tube. Does the hum go away if you
cycle power quickly on the amp?
